Limited Edition WORSTED SHAWL in Reproduction Isabella MacTavish Fraser Tartan

£225.00
sold out

Wrap yourself in tartan luxury! This gorgeous shawl will take your breath away. Made of worsted (100% wool) but looks and drapes like silk due to the warp-dominent open-weave design (an exclusive to Prickly Thistle). This cool modern take on a centuries-old textile may play with your eyes, as the floating warp yarns make the weft yarns step back into shadows… they’re still there, though… can you see them?

This super-sized shawl measures 3 meters x 75 cm, with full size tartan sett, the same scale as the original 18th century dress.

This is a Limited Edition product commissioned from Prickly Thistle Scotland Ltd to commemorate the recreation of the 1785 wedding gown of Isabella MacTavish Fraser at the National Museum of Scotland on 29-30 June 2019 as part of the “Wild and Majestic: Romantic Visions of Scotland” exhibition programme.

The last photo here is of Alice Dayhoff-Miller, wearing her Isabella shawl at the Treaty of Ghent tea at Historic Camden, South Carolina, February 2020 - to much admiration!

Happy to ship worldwide — just tell me where you are and I’ll get you a shipping quote. I only send fully insured, with tracking.

Any questions, please PM me.

Only 50 made. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
